This past November, Ponce City delivered the best of its hospitality to embrace our Sales and Services Team. Starting with a night visit to the Ponce Convention Center, local architect and businessman, Mr. Abel Misla, welcomed us for a walkthrough of this beautiful facility that offers open spaces, high ceilings, gigantic kitchen space and ample glass windows. The venue is well known for its versatility and regularly transforms itself to host not only meetings, but social, sports and musical events as well.
Following our tour of the Convention Center, the legendary Meliá Hotel provided us a taste of its rooms and meeting spaces. Likewise, a brief but informative tour of the renowned main square Plaza Las Delicias presented by Melina Aguilar of Isla Caribe gave us a unique insight to the storied history of Ponce that could never be duplicated in the typical classroom.
Our Sales and Services Retreat, conducted by our Vice President of Sales, Kim DaRoja, gathered our National Sales Directors with our Sales and Services Team experts to share information on market trends and internal procedures to better serve our organization, external partners and stakeholders.
During this important event, the team created and committed to their vision statement: Through commitment and passion, our Sales & Services Team will connect you with our rich culture and immerse you in our unique and enchanting destination. We invite you to come Discover Puerto Rico!
DPR Indulges Meeting Planners with Extraordinary Dinner at El Morro
Along with our efforts to consolidate businesses in Puerto Rico, we hosted a very well attended FAM Trip as a follow-up to our extraordinary booth presence at IMEX 2018. This powerful industry event, which gathers meetings’ industry professionals, gave us the chance to invite 11 planners with 12 lead opportunities and about 13,856 potential room nights for our industry partners.
The attendees explored our outstanding cultural and hotel product offerings as well as the many options for group activities and attractions. They enjoyed the fresh waters of El Yunque National Rain Forest in Río Grande after experiencing an afternoon in Loíza enjoying the rhythmic sound of bomba drums that highlighted the African heritage of the municipality.
After three days of adventure, the CEO of Discover Puerto Rico, Brad Dean, received them with a grand dinner organized by our Destination Services Team in partnership with local suppliers showcasing a mesmerizing evening event at Castillo San Felipe del Morro.
Our sales team also attended several important tradeshow events this December, including the American Express Interaction event for corporate meeting, event and incentive planners in San Diego; the Holiday Showcase in Chicago; and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events IAEE Expo! Expo! 2018, where our CSO for Discover Puerto Rico, Ed Carey, presented the message that the island was “ready and eager” to host the events that were represented by the nearly 900 planners attending this show.Go back
